LIVING ON A PRAYER!!! (Season 8 Episode 2) - 6/10/19

Greetings and salutations!

Wow, preparation days in this area are way more exciting than 花蓮. We had a solid morning and I got to talk to the family. I got surprised by being able to talk to Grandma and Grandpa! That was so awesome and I love them so much. We also went to the famous Taipei 101 building and hung out with a lot of missionaries. We ate some McDonald's and some Krispy Kreme! Perks of being in the city is you got the American places like Krispy Kreme and Jamba Juice, not as tasty as America but it suffices. We then went to a store that has a bunch of sports things and I got a couple things (all for less than 300 kuai. A steal!!) Then we came back and started working for the night. We were able to talk with people and I am beginning to understand how we can help this area grow. I feel that responsibility on my shoulders and I know with Elder Yang's help and Heavenly Father we will do wonders in this area.

Tuesday was a busy day and pretty eventful! In the morning I had to go to the mission office for a training meeting about how to be a District Leader and it was really good. I am stoked and super ready to help my District this transfer, it's going to be way fun! After the meeting, we came back home and did our studies for the day, and a crazy thing happened when we were doing language study. We were at a McDonald's and nearby were some English speaking people who were being pretty rowdy and honestly talking about very inappropriate things. My companion couldn't understand them but I could, and I was just overcome with the most anxious feeling and just felt dark. It was terrible and I asked them to be more quiet and they didn't so I ended up just asking Elder Yang if we could leave. It was such a crazy experience. The night was incredible though because we had 2 lessons and we got to be outside in an awesome place for golden hour! I took some awesome pictures and we had some awesome lessons. I am grateful to be in this area and to be able to be with Elder Yang and do the Lord's work here.

Another full day Wednesday. Right after we left the house we were finally able to go grab my bike after way too long without it. That took longer than expected so we had a filled day doing studies, English planning, and talking to people and teaching English! I am back teaching the advanced class and man they are a tough crowd. They had lots to share and whatnot, including how I can be a better teacher. It was awesome it just helps me better tailor the lessons to their wants and needs. I also made the resolution to run every day I can because when we were biking around the college I saw the track and I decided then and there to go back tomorrow and time a mile and see where I am at and then train and when I leave this area go back and see how much I can improve. I am way excited to have this goal! And even better, our apartment complex has a gym with treadmills!

Wow, what a day (not to mention my year mark too!!) From the time we stepped out the door to when we walked in was full speed. When we left in the morning we had to bike 1.5 hours to our Zone Council. It was way worth it though because we stopped at a really good curry place and ate with my District! That was way cool and we finally made it to Zone Council. It was a good meeting and we had some good discussion about stuff, and the sisters made us all brownies so that was a nice surprise. When we biked all the way back we had dinner and did our studies and contacted people and that was the day! I love being in the city. Always something to do and lots of people to interact with. In regards to my running, I did go to the track and time myself. My mile was a pretty decent time of 6:29 but I felt like junk after. I'm definitely out of shape and need to get back into it! Now I have my benchmark and can train and improve going forward.

Super cool day Friday. We had a pretty crammed day spent doing studies but we still had some finding time and we saw something really cool happen. I was just biking aimlessly around 三峽. Not like in a lost sort of way but trying to find a new venue to call people at, and I saw a man on a scooter and even though I originally biked past him, before I knew it I was turning my bike around and I had a cool chat with him. And he said he could meet tomorrow! Way cool experience following a prompting and seeing a cool thing come from it. We also had our weekly coordination meeting today so that really filled up our day with things. We only have 4 investigators right now so we will be finding a lot more and growing that! We also had a lesson this morning and our investigator read the first 22 chapters of 1 Nephi since the last meeting and she marked so many scriptures and shared them with us today and she set a baptismal goal for July 27. And when we told her about the importance of a priesthood baptism she totally understood it. Things are looking up for our area!

Another awesome Saturday in the books. Started off with a solid lesson with the man from yesterday. He liked the message and had some good questions about missionary work as well as church and the Book of Mormon. And he set up again for next week! It was a small miracle meeting with him because he accidentally gave us the wrong phone number and he was a few minutes late we tried to call him and the number was "empty" and so Elder Yang thought to leave but I had a thought to wait until 11:05. And sure enough, right on the dot, he walked in and we had the lesson! So awesome! Today we also did some planning and studies as well as lots of former calling. We did get one set up from it and a couple more potential setups from it so it was a great success! Aside from the awesome missionary work we got done today I also had a very Danny Macaskill-esque moment on my bike today. At the college there is a little coral for bikes to enter and it's a sharp u-turn type thing (to make sure scooters can't get in), and I have been trying to bike through it for almost a week now and today I finally did it. Halfway through the turn, I got jammed and had to do a nose pivot to reposition my bike but I rolled away and felt like a champ. It's the little things that make you feel good!

Sunday was very productive. We had a great church meeting with ward council following it up and we were able to discuss at that time the ware mission plan! This ward is really missionary minded and trying to help us and it's so awesome to see. I was also able to ask some returned missionaries who all went to America on their missions for some English studying tips for my companion. We were able to call some people and confirm stuff for tomorrow so that's why I say it was so productive!

My head hurts... (Season 8 Episode 1) - 6/3/19

Greetings and salutations!

Last preparation day in 花蓮! Pretty crazy how fast time goes. Monday was an awesome day. I started it off by accompanying my best friend Elder Ray to the hospital for him to get some tests done. He is getting some illnesses ruled out but he's moving this week too so it's a race against the clock to try and figure out his sickness. I'm sending prayers his way and trust God will answer them in his time. After that, we had lunch with all the missionaries and our ward mission leader as well. It was very tasty and after that, we spent the rest of the day at the chapel having some fun with some other Elders. Cracking jokes and trying to help some guys figure out some college stuff. Loads of fun! When we got back to 鳳林 we had a lesson with a guy who treated us to fried chicken! Super tasty and the appointment filled me up with spiritual and physical nourishment!

Tuesday we had a good day. Started off by going to 花蓮 for the last District Council of the transfer! We had a good discussion and did some fun activities revolving around street contacts and applying President Ballard's invitations he gave us. When we got back to 鳳林 on the train we biked straight out to my good friend 朝秋開's house, the man I helped baptize! We reviewed Lesson 3 with him and I said a goodbye to him. I'm going to miss him! He's such an amazing man and I love him so much. He's like another grandfather to me. We biked back and had dinner and language study, which concluded the day. Most of my stuff is all packed and ready to move already so it is pretty low maintenance as of now. I'm just taking it one step at a time and trust that everything will work out.

My last day in 鳳林. Super crazy how the time flies so fast. We spent Wednesday just getting me all ready to go. I got all my luggage packed and it all fit just how I wanted! I also took my language test to see if I can study characters, and I passed!! I'm very pleased and relieved that now I can study characters without feeling bad. On top of all that I shipped my bike to 台北. So I got everything set to go and at night we took a train to 花蓮 so I can take my train out of here tomorrow morning. Crazy day!!

Thursday was the big day! I, along with Elder Ray, got to the train station in the morning and took our train all the way to 台北! We got to sit next to each other and it was a sweet ending to our time together. He's definitely one of my best friends and I'm going to miss him a lot. We had to split up on the MRT and I went to the mission office where I met my companion, Elder 楊, who is full Taiwanese! He's way awesome and after we met up I grabbed my new language study materials (characters!!!) and then we made our way back to our area. And let me tell you, 三峽 is the best. This place is awesome. It's got that amazing city vibe, and no missionaries around us, so we can teach everyone we find! It was so amazing just walking around the city and drawing from that energy. Absolutely incredible. We had an awesome Missionary Correlation Meeting also and turns out our Ward Mission Leader is actually a member from my first area! Way small world. Moving day was a success and I'm so so happy to be here and already see my language improving with Elder 楊.

Friday was my first full day in the promised land. It was awesome. We had to walk everywhere because I still don't have my bike (next Monday I'll get it) so that limited us only a little bit. We had our first weekly planning session and that was super awesome. After we did our studies we grabbed dinner, contacted people and then met with some members! The members here are so awesome, working with them will be a real pleasure. Being with a native Taiwanese companion is awesome. My head hurts from using Chinese 24/7 but I'm learning so much and Elder 楊 is seriously so awesome. We are going to have an awesome time together for sure and my English will become awful, but that's what I want!

Saturday was way awesome! Elder 楊 and I had a great day doing some studies (we went to the college library for language study and it was absolutely amazing) and in addition to that did some activity planning for some ward stuff. Then we were able to meet with a member and I got to meet a super great family. We also biked a little bit today using the city bike system because we got tired of walking. So we were able to spin the wheels for a little bit. Since we are still walking everywhere time goes by way quick. Once my bike gets dropped off it'll be a lot quicker!

Sunday funday! It was pretty awesome we had church in the morning and I got to meet the ward for the first time! They are all way awesome and I can already feel the love they have for the gospel and each other. When we got back from church we did some studies and then had our first lesson together. When that was over we talked with our Ward Mission Leader about a possible activity in the future and then we had dinner. When dinner was done we went to the 台北 recent convert fireside! It was my first time going in 6 months and it was way good. The music was sublime. Afterwards, I had the chance to see a lot of missionary friends and catch up with them a bit. Probably the best part of today though came after the fireside when I got to see a member from 淡水 and I talked with her for a bit and she mentioned multiple times how much I have improved since then. She said I'm more lively and speak more Chinese, since in training I just stood behind Elder Pope and let him do it and was pretty shy. She mentioned it multiple times and it made me so happy. Elder 楊 has already helped me break out of my Chinese shell and I feel so much more comfortable talking now. I naturally revert to Chinese now instead of English. How crazy is that!

HE SHOOK MY HAND!!! (Season 7 Episode 6) - 5/27/19

Greetings and Salutations!

Great P-day Monday. Had a good morning and enjoyed some time at the park by the beach for a little bit and then spent a good amount of time at the chapel. Just playing Basketball and stuff like that. The usual thing we do! I did go and get Mom's Mothers Day gift and I'm excited for her to get it. We caught a train back home because we had an activity with our 小組, we watched Legacy and had food! It was so much fun!

Super good day Tuesday. I sent home my big package of stuff and then we jetted off on a train to 花蓮 for some District Council and Exchanges! We had a good time leading up to District Council doing personal study and companionship study then we had a great meeting and afterward Elder Ray and I fixed up a sisters bike and then I started an exchange with his companion, Elder Berges. We had to solve some of his bike problems and then have dinner and language study. That took up most of the rest of the night except for the lesson we had with some 台中 missionaries with a referral they have for us. Pretty interesting lesson, but the man is very cool and despite technical problems, we had an uplifting time.

Wednesday was awesome! I had the awesome chance to finish up my exchange with Elder Berges. We had a good time talking to people on the streets, at their homes, and wherever else we could find them. We also had a lesson which went well, a little long, but good all in all. After that, we switched back to our normal companions and Elder Lee and I had some time before dinner to plan English class and then we had some McDonald's with a member that came down from 台北 to see Elder Lee. The member was super cool so that was a good time. Then we had the amazing opportunity to hear a special fireside from President M. Russell Ballard because he is in Taiwan! They broadcasted it to our chapel and his remarks, along with the other general authorities with him, were awesome. President Ballard really emphasized building up our spiritual selves and how that strength will carry over to our physical well being. Very inspiring remarks and I definitely took a lot of notes.

Thursday was the big day! We took the train in the morning all the way to 台北! We were blessed to be able to hear from President Ballard! When he walked in the room you just knew. There was such a tangible spirit and shaking his hand was a sweet experience. He's a very nice man and I felt the love radiating from him the whole time. His remarks today really hit on becoming a great teacher and knowing Preach My Gospel chapter 3 very, very well. That was a takeaway for me but I had others for sure. There's so much to say about it but suffice it to say it was a very memorable experience. Once the meeting ended and President Ballard left, the whole mission walked to a famous tourist spot nearby and took a mission picture. That was super unique too because the mission is seldom all in one place together! One funny experience from today came from the train ride to 台北. I was walking through the train and in one of the cars there was a big group of elementary school-aged students and they must have been taking a field trip or something. As I was walking through the car they saw me and screamed and freaked out (because I was a foreigner) and they all wanted high fives and they just all went crazy and crowded me like a celebrity! It was such a fun experience I was smiling so big after that. They were some awesome kids!

Friday starts all of the "lasts" for me in this wonderful area. We did our last weekly planning of the transfer and made some plans to have a killer last few days of the transfer. In addition to that, we taught some English to some local kids and made some calls around to get some miscellaneous items taken care of (one of them being securing a new chapel key for us because ours broke). We also grabbed dirt, yes you read that right, dirt for the sisters in our district. They requested some 鳳林 dirt for part of their next English class. Interesting request but we came through for them.

Saturday was a great day. We had a solid morning and we actually had an English class! That was way awesome and afterwards, we biked out to a further part of our area to find some formers! We had some good discussions and talked to some other cool people but nothing in terms of setups. I still feel good about it though because I haven't been to that part of the area in a long time. It was super good for sure. Then we caught a train and had some dinner in 花蓮 because tomorrow is Stake Conference.

Sunday was a chill day. We had Stake Conference so it was cool to see all the missionaries in the zone. After the conference, we had a super tasty lunch provided by some members, very nice of them. Once that was all done I spent the day with Elder Ray. He has contracted some crazy illness recently and so he has to take it way easy, and I was his companion for the day. Just like the last time this happened, I did some personal Study, language study, and took a nap and talked with Elder Ray. That was the day, the other exciting thing was that transfer calls came out. I am moving to 三峽! It's in west 台北 and my companion is native Taiwanese! What a super good time we will have.

SHE WAS PASSED OUT!!! (Season 7 Episode 5) - 5/20/19

Greetings and salutations!

Monday was the best P-day I have had in a very very long time. We had a chill morning getting the bulk of contacting out of the way then we had the most awesome adventure! We started off by getting driven to a beach that nobody knows about and it was gorgeous. There was nobody else there and we had a great time standing in the ankle breakers and taking lots of pictures and videos. Then we headed to a famous national park called Taroko! This place is very well known and for good reason. It was so beautiful! It was kinda up in the mountains so lots of sheer rock faces and nice winding roads. Triggered my motion sickness a tad, but that's ok it was manageable. Words can hardly describe how awesome it was. Lots of photo and video were taken of it all. That was the day basically! We had some smacking food and started the night feeling very satisfied.

Tuesday was a crazy day. We spent the whole day in 花蓮 because we had District Council! The sad part is that Elder Ray caught a massive cold so he spent the whole day inside and as one of his good friends it was my pleasure to accompany him for his day. We had a chill day because he had to lay low. Lots of language study and a bit of exercise for me. I just really feel for Elder Ray and hope he gets better soon. Aside from that, we also had interviews today with President Peterson. It was pretty routine this time around and he said I'm moving and that I'll probably have lots of concrete in my new area. So that is very exciting I'm pumped to see where I go!

A normal day in my own area! What a relief. We did take an early train back home and started the morning a bit late but we still were able to have 2 lessons and play some good ol' Wednesday night Badminton! The two lessons went good. One was with a progressing friend and she is struggling with personal confidence and faith to overcome her obstacles. So we are going to help her with that in the future. The other lesson was with my recent convert! We reviewed the first lesson with him and he loved it as always. He's such a stud he remembered it all! It feels good to have the next few days in my own area doing the great work in the greatest place!

Thursday was a good day. Had a good time doing studies and all that jazz. After we finished that, we biked out to a different 7 in the area and took care of some former calling and more area book stuff like that. We then went to visit some formers in the area we were in, we had 1 contact and he said we could come back next week in the evening. That was pretty cool! We had 2 lessons, the first one turned into the lady feeding us and then leaving so we couldn't share the Gospel with her but she accepted the preparation assignment we gave her in preparation for next time. The second lesson turned into a drop lesson. Sad to see someone leave the teaching pool but it must be done sometimes.

Pretty good Friday. Nothing super exciting to write about since the day consisted of studies, weekly planning, former calling and English planning. These days are kind of rough because I want to write about stuff but there's just nothing exciting to write about! We did have to drop three more people from our teaching pool though. Once again sad to see them go but we don't want to waste their time and ours. Someday they will hear the gospel.

Had a cool day Saturday. Got some good visits in and enjoyed a day full of rain and thunder. That was surprisingly relaxing. It reminded me of the sleep machine from when I was little! We biked around a lot in that so I was wet through and through but that was easily fixed (blow dryer magic!) I also had a wakeup call of sorts to fix some of my habits that I have let slip. As with all bad habits, it's hard to break but deciding to do it is the first step! I've done that and now its time to make the change permanent! This course correction definitely came from Heavenly Father, can't deny His will!

Super good day Sunday. First day of the new and improved lifestyle and boy did it feel different. There is power in obedience! We had a super good church meeting today. It was actually my last one in 鳳林 because next week is Stake Conference and so the whole Stake will be meeting together, so I guess my last one at the chapel in 鳳林. Not a lot of people came, but we did have one friend there so that was good. The weather was amazing, the sun was out and shining bright so we were way happy to go out and make visits to people. We met with my recent convert and during our discussion his wife busted through the door and just laid on the floor because she was so drunk. Kinda whack but that's how the area can be sometimes. We ended off the day catching a train up to 花蓮. One of the last times we will do this! Crazy that my time down here is wrapping up so quickly.

JET SETTING THE MISSION!! (Season 7 Episode 4) - 5/13/19

Greetings and salutations!

11 months on the mission and a good amount left! Monday we enjoyed a chill preparation with nothing super crazy happening. We played some basketball and that was the most exciting thing. At night we stayed in 花蓮 because we have District Council so we got the apartment we stay in now ready to move because the Elders are moving this week! We are gonna help them this week so that should be fun. P-days don't have to much to write about because they are super chill.

Man Tuesday was a pretty wild day. We are quite the jet-setting pair of missionaries! Tuesday we woke up in 花蓮 and did the normal stuff and we also had our first district council of the transfer! We have a set of Elders and a set of Sisters in our district, which makes for 6 total. The sisters weren't going to be able to attend for some reason and so we were thinking of how to make it super fun, and we decided on a 烤肉 barbecue! I haven't done one in a very long time but we decided to do it Tuesday and it was awesome. Just us 4 guys and we had lots of good meat and ice cream and drinks and we talked about missionary work and it was such a good time. After we finished that, Elder Lee and I had to take a train straight from 花蓮 way down south to 台東 for exchanges with the Zone Leaders. And that was our day basically. Lots of travel recently. I'm a little ready to settle back down but I love the travel too.

Another day another place to travel to. We had a chill morning in 台東 and we ended up getting out of the house late because the Zone Leaders had to report and stuff but the assistants were way late for it so that bumped us back. I was with Elder Ward and we just did some studies and had a good talk about missionary work and the more real and raw side of it. It was kind of a continuation of a discussion the 4 of us yesterday night, a lot about mission politics and the sad reality of the mission culture now. Being surrounded by older missionaries all the time is really cool because you really get the multiple perspectives of it and it's very cool to hear and contrast since they served under the previous Mission President also. We had a super bomb dinner with all the missionaries in 台東 then we caught a train back to our area finally! I haven't slept in my own bed since last Friday so I am actually pretty stoked for that.

Thursday was a normal day finally. We had some lessons with a lot of our friends and it was really good. They seem to all be doing well and we were able to see our friend who is getting baptized on Saturday and he is still all good to go and we are very stoked for him!! It was a fairly low-key day though, so nothing crazy to write about.

Friday was a good day. We had the usual including weekly planning and the excitement happened after we finished all that. We left on a train for 花蓮 because the Elders are moving places and they needed our help. So we got up there and helped them move into a legit house! It is so crazy nice they easily got the best place in the mission. That took a good bit though and it's 3 floors so moving beds and all that upstairs provided some good workout. Pretty great day though!

Saturday was amazing!! We spent the night in the new house because we had our baptism! That was the best part of the day for sure. One of my favorite people ever got baptized Saturday! Just in time for his 80th birthday which is Sunday! He's amazing though and when he came out of the water he was smiling so big and I couldn't help but feel so much joy! It was indescribable. When that was completed we stayed at the chapel for a bit because Elder Lee has some friends from a past area coming to take us for P-day on Monday but they got here early. So they picked us up and took us around 花蓮 and we ended up at a massive night market and had a lot of fun! We took a train back and that ended up the day! The highlight was definitely seeing one of my best friends be baptized!!

Sunday was a very slow day. At church though our friend that got baptized yesterday was confirmed and I got to stand in the circle and help! It was very awesome and a nice wrap up to the story of him receiving the gospel! After church, we spent the day inside doing studies, some well-needed cleaning, and planning some stuff for the week ahead. All the downtime let me get in some extra language study so that was good too. Towards the end of the night, Elder Lee's friends came and picked us up and drove us to 花蓮 so we can be up here for P-day as usual.

I SURVIVED ANOTHER YEAR ON EARTH!! (Season 7 Episode 3) - 5/6/19

Greetings and Salutations!

Tuesday preparation day! Super awesome. Felt like a Monday because we still did the same things lol. Called some family and whatnot then had lunch all together and then hung out at the chapel! Elder Lee and I did some various basketball skills challenges today and bet a Mountain Dew for the winner and I ended up winning 2 bottles in the end! I felt like the twin from Dude Perfect that rarely wins battles. Because Elder Lee is really good at ball and I'm not the best Haha. Winning felt good though, especially when Mountain Dew is on the line! That was the day though nothing mega exciting. I love chill preparation days!

May Day May Day!! Crazy to think that the year is already 1/3 the way done, and only about 35,337,600 seconds left of my mission. Wednesday we had a few lessons and played Badminton at night! Our lessons went swimmingly and we helped 2 more of our friends set a baptismal goal with us! They appear to be earnest seekers of the truth and I think they will definitely come to a conclusion that our church is true. The next lesson was with someone we have been meeting with a while but she is still working to overcome some addictions. She seems pretty solid towards it so we will have to see how she progresses. The last lesson we had was with our friend who is being baptized next Saturday. We just read the scriptures with him and reminded him he can't smoke! But I know he will quit in time and it will be a joyous day next Saturday to see him accept baptism! Along with studies that made up our day!

Thursday was Exchange Day. I was with Elder Ray once again in the beautiful land of 花蓮. We had a super great day reading the scriptures with a recent convert and then biking to the university for a lesson and the rest of our day's plans. At the college we actually had a cool experience where we started talking with one man who has a very crazy life story and had lots to say but then the man we were originally gonna meet with showed up and so I taught the appointment the whole lesson while Elder ray is a few feet away sharing the gospel with the other guy! It was super crazy and a wild experience for sure. Sharing the gospel is a beautiful thing though, no matter how you do it. After that amazing experience we had a study and ate dinner and contacted some people then biked home for the end of the day. One funny thing that happened right as we were leaving for home. Some college girls were studying some English and whatnot and as I walked by I just looked at them, smiled, and said to them, "Your English is very good!" And they just started giggling as I walked away and started talking amongst each other. Hopefully, their confidence in their English was bolstered.

Another Friday another chill day in the books, Friday especially. We ended exchanges in the afternoon and Elder Lee and I got to come back to 鳳林 and we had some language study and dinner and weekly planning and stuff like that. So that took a lot of the day, hence the chill day since it's a lot of sitting around. But we were able to get out and go see our friend who is getting baptized next week. He passed his baptismal interview today!! He's all systems go for next Saturday!!! It's such a miracle and I couldn't be happier for him! Best start to the birthday weekend!

Saturday was the day! I grew one year old and wiser too! That is correct Saturday was my 19th birthday! And what a day it was. We had a normal morning and when we got out we just did some studies and whatnot and then Elder Lee and I played a small game of hide and seek in 鳳林. We accidentally got separated and then it just turned into me chasing him around town. Good fun and then we waited for an English class that never showed up so we just sat at the chapel for a bit. After the English class was supposed to end, some members came and picked us up and drove us to 花蓮! They are the stunt people family (my Taiwanese mom and dad haha), and their car is straight out of Fast and Furious. It had the sweetest sound and even had a roll cage in it, it was so epic! It even inspired me to learn how to drive a manual car again, but we will have to see when I get home. Anyways they drove us to the city and took us to dinner at a super cool place because it was my birthday. It was super tasty and afterward they drove us to the chapel for a ward activity. Basically today was a big party because the ward activity was a mothers day shindig. It was awesome at and the end of the night I got surprised along with Elder Ray with a birthday cake! The members here are so great to us. It was an amazing birthday!!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Sunday we had a chill day in 花蓮 where we had studies and a meeting with our ward mission leader in the morning and then our church service, which our man who is being baptized next week showed up to! He is such an amazing man. As we were walking out after the meeting I was walking next to him and he was smiling so big and he just put his arm around me and we walked out together. My heart was so full of joy nothing could take away that moment from me. It was a beautiful day and after church we finished up studies and did some planning for stuff in the week and then we had an appointment with a less active from the ward who is fixing up some pants for me! That was the day though. Very slow but super rewarding. I also dunked my head in the river as a result of losing a game to Elder Lee. That was fun too.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I FOUND THIS IN 7/11 (Season 7 Episode 2) - 4/30/19

Another chill Preparation Day. Spent the morning doing the usual then we went to McDonald's for lunch and I ate way too much and I paid for it later because right after we went and played ultimate frisbee! After a bit, I was really feeling the 20 chicken nuggets, large fry, and 2 Cokes that I had. It wasn't pleasant, but I still had a great game so I'm content with it all! We played some basketball too and then we relaxed the rest of the time until we caught our train and we spent the night setting up people, with 2 successes! This week starts the crazy part of the transfer. Lots of meetings and stuff so it'll be a good time.

Tuesday was incredible! We didn't have a lot planned for the day so we had some good finding time today. We targeted formers specifically and got one set up for tomorrow and all the rest had bogus addresses so we made sure to fix that in the system. We also had 2 lessons, and we did a practice baptismal interview with our friend and he passed except for his small smoking problem which he's actively working on! He's gonna make it! I'm still super excited for him. Another awesome part of the day was doing a study in a 7. I was looking for a snack and was just walking around and all the sudden I saw in the fridge a Mountain Dew bottle! In Taiwan, Mountain Dew has only been available in Costco, which isn't convenient a lot of the time. It is now in 7/11s!! Elder Lee and I bought a combined 20 bottles to stash up with. They are cheap compared to other sodas so it is pure heaven. I had earth's best snack because I splurged for the Snickers too. I was on cloud 9! The last great part of the day was I had 7 gospel conversations today by myself. The push is 20 per companionship per day and I got 7 by myself. That's a personal high for me and it felt good talking to people. I'm finally feeling Chinese click and it's incredible.

Wednesday definitely didn't end how I thought it would. We had a normal day with appointments and studies and whatnot. Pretty normal and since it's Wednesday we had badminton with some other people that live in 鳳林. When we left the house for badminton we realized we both didn't have keys and we were locked out. We had to call a locksmith, who couldn't help us. Then we called our landlord and she was in 花蓮 and couldn't come to help us. So we did the next best thing and took a train up to the city, met up with our landlord, got our keys and waited an hour to take a train home and got back around 11 at night. It was crazy and let's just say I'll never leave the house without keys again.

Zone day! Thursday we had Zone Council in 花蓮. Elder Lee and I got up there early and he spent the morning doing college stuff until we got lunch and had our meeting. The meeting went well and I got to know some of the new people in the Zone so that was cool. We had dinner together after and all that fun stuff then we got home and did studies. Pretty chill day but very filled with learning. Probably the funniest part of the day was having different people randomly point out to me the mannerisms that I have. It was actually wild. One person pointed out my walk (and I learned that other missionaries have learned how to imitate it), my talk (how I talk with my hands and gesture a lot), and even my posture (still not the best but I'm working on it). It was funny everyone loves my cowboy walk, it's a hit! Goes to show people are watching and observing you all the time!

Freaky Friday. Actually, it wasn't that different. We did the morning routine with studies and then we went to help one of our friends dig out some sweet potatoes and other veggies from his farm. It was actually really cool because there was a group of elementary school students there for an activity and so it was a good time! We headed back and got changed then grabbed some dinner then visited some formers in our area book. Found 2 real addresses and 2 more bogus ones. Slowly but surely the area book is going to become perfect. We ended the night doing contacting and waiting for a package from the mission office. Our apartment is pretty janky and gets super humid so they sent us a dehumidifier and hopefully, it works!

Super Saturday! We spent Saturday morning helping our group leader build his home! It's coming together nicely.  It is really taking shape and looking way good. We spent the whole morning doing that and by the time we came back and got ready it was time for English class. We had 2 students show up! One of them was a new student, so that was pretty awesome. Today we also had the chance to go and read scriptures with our baptismal date friend! His baptism is 2 weeks from today and I can't wait! We made it back home and did studies the rest of the day so it wasn't that exciting, and a little backward since we do studies in the morning then go out at work. Still a super great day nonetheless.

Chill Sunday today for sure. We had an awesome church meeting in the morning and had a man randomly walk in and attend Sacrament Meeting so that was good and he said we could stop by his house in town but when we went he wasn't there. We'll keep trying and he said he would come to church every week so that's really good too! After Church, we did our studies and then had our weekly planning session because we didn't do it on Friday! So we spent lots of time inside today but you gotta do what you gotta do. We biked out to visit one of our new investigators but he wasn't at home so that was a bummer. It's ok though we ended out the night taking a train to 花蓮 because tomorrow is Zone Conference!

Monday was not Preparation Day! So it was a normal missionary day but we also had Zone Conference today! It was great to have the whole Zone together and be with President and Sister Peterson. They are super great people and the training we had focused on the Book of Mormon today. It was the same exact things we talked about in Zone Council last week so I don't know if I learned anything new per se but it definitely reaffirmed truths that I knew before. I did enjoy a quote from Sister Peterson, she said that we can "pierce the darkness with the spiritual light of the Book of Mormon". I really enjoyed that. I also was sung to for my birthday which is this Saturday. Pretty excited for that, but I don't think anything too special will happen. After Zone Conference, we just did some studies and stuff for the night. A lot of missionaries are staying for preparation day so it was fun spending time with the other missionaries and discussing things too.
